Born on
21/08/2001 from Ch.MANGA and PODE
LEFT MILAN ON
05/12/2001 for CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA
Not
only were her new owners waiting for her arrival, but also the
state television and several journalists
Francois
and Des, her new owners, were waiting for her with joy and excitment.
ROXI is only the second PORTOGUESE WATER DOG to arrive in this
splendid city and she hopes to make her contributions to South
Africa's history by spreading knowledge of this magnificient breed.
The long
journey that ROXI had to make was my main worry and therefore
constantly in my thoughts, other than the many examinations that
she had to undergo to obtain an importation permit, there were
also paper to fill out and documents to be sent
ROXANA
was carefully chosen from a beautiful litter for her tenacity
and the determinations that she demostrated early on. The strenght
of her character convinced me that she could sustain the long
and stressful journey.
LITTLE
PIZZA, a nickname given ROXI for her Italian origin, had undergone
the right training to prepare her for what was ahead. She had
constantly traveled by car, not only long hours (even 8 hour stretchs)
but also numerous trips (sometimes 3 a day). ROXI had often visited
the PISA airport to conditions her to loud noises. At shows she
was introduced continuously to new people and became accustomed
to eating and sleeping in her traveling box so it became familiar
and protective. She came to work in the office, went to the market,
was often a guest in friend's homes, entered into shops, and even
went to the stadium. I believed that it was best to give her the
widest possible imprinting so that she could easily adapt to new
situations. Her responses were always optimum.
ROXANA
has gone to live in CAPE TOWN, one of most beautiful place in
the world. She now lives with affectionate people who adore her.
In fact her new owner already knew her. They saw her grow up through
all the photos I sent. ROXI has a new adopted sister, not much
bigger than her, and they will be able to play and swim in the
pool or in the sea. Shell go to shows and perhaps travel a lot,
but most of all shell live with her new friends because for this
breed that's the most important thing and what makes them happiest.
I
consider it a honor to be chosen from so many breeder of PORTOGUESE
WATER DOG around the world and I want to thank FRANCOIS and DES
for this. I won't give them any advice because I am sure that
they will treat her like a princess. I publicly apologize for
my terrible English which has been the hardest thing about this
operation. Best Wishes of good health, love, and success to Francois
and Des, little sister CALISTA and naturally, Good Luck to my...........LITTLE
PIZZA!!
